Macedonian finished products with raw materials from the EU will be imported and exported from Kosovo without customs.

With the expansion of diagonal cumulation in Pan-Euro-Mediterranean cumulative zone and inclusion of Kosovo into it, the Macedonian companies have more opportunities to import raw materials from the wider market, competitive production in the region, as well as, expanding opportunities for export of finished products. They will be subject to the application of preferential conditions for import in the countries, which are included in this cumulative area.

As informed by Customs Administration, the Macedonian companies will be able to use raw materials from the European Union to produce finished products that will be exported to Kosovo, without paying customs duties and vice versa – in Macedonia is allowed duty-free import of products from Kosovo, which were produced using raw materials from the EU.

Thus, the competitiveness of Macedonian products in the EU, especially in Kosovo, is further promoting.

The application of the diagonal cumulation between the EU, Kosovo and Macedonia dates from the 1st of April 2016, after starting the implementation of the application of Stabilization and Association Agreement, within which applies the Regional Convention of Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin.

A statement from the Customs Administration states that in the Official Gazette of the EU, series C, number 244 of the 5th of July 2016, was published a new Notice of the date of application of the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin or the Protocols of origin, which allow diagonal cumulation between the contracting parties to the Convention. With this announcement are made certain changes in the application of rules of origin in preferential trade with the European Union member states and member countries of the CEFTA agreement.
